Paleo Day 11: Two Big Meals

I seem to be dropping in meal frequency, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  Just a factor of schedule and timing, today I found myself without any snacks or breakfast.  It was therefore just two big meals for me today.  I really struggled between lunch and dinner, but I didn’t overeat in the end anyway.

I must have been really tired because I didn’t wake up until after 8pm.  I went to bed a little later than I wanted to, but that was still more than eight hours of sleep.  Because of sleeping in and needing to get to work at an appropriate time, I didn’t get any breakfast made.  I therefore also didn’t get my snacks made.   I decided to try to avoid snacks altogether and see if I could power through it all.

Eating lunch at 11:30 helped cut the edge off pretty easily.  I had a big piece of flank steak with some sauteed vegetables and potatoes.  I was getting pretty full eating it all, but I knew I wouldn’t be eating until dinner time, which I thought would be around 5:30 or 6:00 pm.  I actually didn’t eat until 8pm, but that was because we were doing a work happy hour that I wanted to attend.  I did have a couple of glasses of wine and a couple of chicken wings there, but nothing substantive.  Dinner was a half rack of ribs with some broccoli.  I finished it up by finishing off the last pound of watermelon.

While I mostly survived without temptation on just two meals (plus the little bit at happy hour) I don’t think my body likes it.  I could tell my cravings were building.  I could tell I should have had some fruit, vegetables or nuts to snack on in the afternoon.  I’ll try to plan better in the future to avoid that problem.

Now that I’m coming up on the end of my second week of no exercise I feel I need to get back to that.  I had to run a brief spurt to avoid some rain yesterday and I could feel every muscle in my legs fighting with each other as I ran.  I need to start at least doing elliptical and getting some more walking in.
